Answers for iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac, widgets, reminders, and the occasional question about why your day is being described as a Metal Rooster.

System requirements

  • iPhone running iOS 17 or later
  • Apple Watch running watchOS 10 or later
  • Mac running macOS 14 or later

Apple Watch installation and complication availability can vary by watch model, paired iPhone, watch face, and OS version.

Quick help

Add an iPhone widget

Touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Edit, then Add Widget. Search for Daily Qi, choose a size, and add it.

Add a Watch complication

Open the Watch face editor, select a complication position supported by that face, then choose Daily Qi.

Enable solar-term reminders

In Daily Qi, open Settings → Reminders and choose the beginning, 24 hours before, or both. iOS may ask for notification permission.

Change the calendar day boundary

Open Settings → Calendar Rules. Choose Late Zi (23:00) or Traditional Midnight (00:00) according to your reference preference.

Time zones and solar terms

Daily Qi displays dates and times in your device’s current time zone. Solar-term instants are calculated from a consistent astronomical-calendar reference and converted for local display, so traveling can change the local clock time shown for the same instant.

If the displayed time zone looks wrong, check Settings → General → Date & Time on iPhone or System Settings → General → Date & Time on Mac, then reopen Daily Qi.

Troubleshooting

A widget is blank or out of date

  1. Open Daily Qi once so the app can refresh shared settings.
  2. Remove and re-add the widget.
  3. Restart the device if WidgetKit has not refreshed after several minutes.

A reminder did not arrive at the exact minute

Check notification permission, Focus modes, and Notification Summary. Daily Qi schedules precise local notifications, but iOS can defer presentation according to system notification settings and power conditions.

The Watch app is not visible

Open the Watch app on iPhone, scroll to available apps, and install Daily Qi. Confirm that the paired Watch runs watchOS 10 or later.

My settings are different on another device

Daily Qi keeps preferences locally and does not use an account or cloud sync. Set each independently installed device to your preferred language, background, and calendar rules.

Accounts and data

Daily Qi has no account system, so there is no password, profile, cloud history, or account to delete. Removing the app removes its locally stored settings according to Apple’s normal app-deletion behavior. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Educational scope

Daily Qi is an education and cultural reference app. Four Pillars are presented as a traditional way of recording time, not as prediction or fortune-telling. Meridian and seasonal wellness notes describe traditional cultural frameworks and are not medical advice.
